FTAHK Blockchain Committee - Institutional Adoption of Cryptos

Summary

Institutional adoption of crypto has been rapidly growing, with large institutional transactions having pushed DeFi TVL to USD 239 billion in the first quarter of 2022. This has been largely thanks to the increasing number of service providers who are able to ensure that institutions can integrate digital assets safely into their business operations.

The panel was held by Fintech Association Hong Kong’s Blockchain Committee in April 2022, discussing the institutional adoption landscape in APAC, institutional requirements for digital asset adoption, and the role that regulations play in the process. Additional topics discussed included how NFTs can be more catered to institutional adoption and growing interest in this sector of the digital asset economy.
